Correspondence and Reports 1962-1972; 1965-1972.

This series comprises records pertaining to The American Lutheran Church's (TALC) involvement in mission work in Hong Kong and Taiwan. The records are from 1962-1972 with the majority dating from 1965-1972. These records were retained by the office of the Secretary for East Asia in TALC's Division of World Missions. The series includes handwritten and typewritten business correspondence, printed reports, newsletters, excerpts from publications, promotional booklets, and copies of newspapers clippings. Subject matter for correspondence primarily pertains to matters involving the education of Hong Kong and Taiwanese citizens in the United States. Other material includes printed reports pertaining to Hong Kong filed by the Lutheran World Federation's Department of World Service; correspondence related to the American School in Kikungshan and the Lutheran Mission Agency and Home; and minutes and correspondence pertaining to the China Advisory Committee and Lutheran Literature Society of China. There are two records that reference Tibet and Nepal, but they were retained in this series because of the lack of any other series in this record group pertaining to East Asia.
